Côte d'Ivoire: BOAD mobilizes over 2,600 billion FCFA for the Ivorian economy, 43% for the private sector
The West African Development Bank (BOAD) has mobilized over 2,600 billion FCFA for the Ivorian economy since its inception, with nearly 43% directly committed to the private sector, announced Franchy Nago, head of the bank's private sector development department and mission chief in Côte d'Ivoire. For the 2021-2025 period alone, the institution has committed over 1,100 billion FCFA to the country. These figures were presented in Abidjan during a breakfast debate organized by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Côte d'Ivoire (CCI-CI) with BOAD, according to RTI Info. For Touré Faman, president of CCI-CI, the meeting aims to help companies understand BOAD's mechanisms and intervention modalities to strengthen their chances of accessing these funds, in line with the National Development Plan (PND) 2026-2030, which calls on Ivorian companies to "invest, innovate, modernize, and create more jobs." Lamine Coulibaly, technical adviser representing the Minister of Commerce, Industry and Handicrafts, described this funding as a "windfall to seize," stating that without this opportunity the country remains "subject to all scourges." The challenge aligns with the stated goal of strengthening industry's contribution to the national GDP.
