Togo: EBID grants 80 million euros to Coris Holding to finance West African value chains
For several years, the ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development (EBID) has been multiplying partnerships with regional financial institutions to bridge the financing gap for SMEs and agricultural and energy value chains, a structural obstacle to growth in West Africa. The new agreement signed on July 30, 2026, in Lomé is part of this dynamic. EBID and Coris Holding, a West African financial group, have concluded an 80 million euro financing package aimed at "strengthening the financing of food, energy, and agriculture value chains," according to Financial Afrik. The signing brought together Dr. George Agyekum Donkor, president of EBID, and Diakarya Ouattara, CEO of Coris Holding. For SMEs and agricultural operators in the sub-region, this agreement could expand access to credit through Coris's regional network, which is present in several WAEMU countries. For EBID, it is a way to multiply its impact by relying on a banking partner already anchored locally. The source does not specify the interest rate, duration, or disbursement schedule of the funds—questions that remain open. The operation is part of a broader trend of regional bank refinancing by multilateral institutions, as global monetary tightening complicates access to long-term capital for African economic actors.
