Côte d'Ivoire: 26,000 tonnes of cocoa already purchased at the guaranteed price of 1,200 FCFA for the 2026/2027 season
Nearly 26,000 tonnes of cocoa were purchased from Ivorian producers between September 7 and 13, 2026, at the guaranteed price of 1,200 FCFA per kilogram, according to the Conseil du Café-Cacao (CCC). Transactions were carried out via the producer electronic card and recorded in the Système national de traçabilité (SNT), in accordance with the ARS 1000 standard applied since September 1, 2026. The CCC reports 38,000 producers already paid in full via their card and 600 cooperatives engaged in operations. Thirty exporters have received compliant beans, and 450 bills of lading validated in the SYDORE system will allow the transport of over 18,000 tonnes to Abidjan and San Pedro. CCC Director General Yves Brahima Koné mentions delays related to payment terminals, but assures: "The system is still in its early stages, but it is working well," and: "We will be ready for large volumes in October." Accounting for around 40% of global supply, Côte d'Ivoire retains the capacity to dictate the pace of the sector. Sankofa Benchmark — National control over traceability and the price of cocoa strengthens Ivorian economic sovereignty, but exporting a raw commodity, even with better traceability, is not enough to capture the added value generated by chocolate processing.
