Côte d'Ivoire: World Bank announces 17 billion dollars to support PND 2026-2030

The World Bank has announced a financial commitment of 17 billion dollars to support Côte d'Ivoire's National Development Plan (PND) 2026-2030, the cost of which is estimated at 114,838.5 billion FCFA. The announcement was made on Monday, September 21, 2026 in Abidjan, during the institution's Open Doors Days, themed "Jobs and opportunities for inclusive growth," according to RTI Info. The World Bank's active portfolio in the country currently features 25 projects totaling 5.3 billion dollars, covering infrastructure, agriculture, energy, governance, and human capital development. The Minister of Communication and Government Spokesperson, Amadou Coulibaly, praised this strategic partnership during the ceremony. The new roadmap aims to create three million jobs, while over 400,000 young graduates enter the Ivorian labor market every year. The institution also intends to strengthen its engagement with populations and the private sector. Repère Sankofa — External financing, no matter how substantial, is only one lever among others: the sustainable creation of three million jobs will depend above all on Côte d'Ivoire's ability to mobilize its own resources. A piece of financing is not sovereign development.
