South Africa: Cabinet Meeting of September 23, 2026

The South African Cabinet discussed several issues during its meeting on September 23, 2026. Among the topics addressed was the condemnation of gender-based violence and femicide, with support for the ongoing investigation to apprehend the culprits. The Cabinet also welcomed the success of the 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi, which strengthened international cooperation in trade, investment, local currency transactions, cross-border payments, infrastructure financing, digital cooperation, sustainable development, climate resilience, and food security. In addition, the access of South African cherry producers to the Chinese market was highlighted as a major economic breakthrough. Finally, the Cabinet encouraged participation in the 2026 local elections, particularly by youth and first-time voters, and wished students good luck for the National Senior Certificate exams starting on October 13, 2026.
