Top 10 African countries with the strongest currencies in early 2026
Sputnik Africa reports on a Forbes ranking established in early 2026 of the strongest African currencies against the US dollar. The Tunisian dinar takes the top spot (around 2,86 for one dollar), followed by the Libyan dinar (6,31) and the Moroccan dirham (9,01). Also featuring in this ranking are the Ghanaian cedi, the Botswana pula, and the Seychellois rupee. This ranking reflects vastly different monetary policies and exchange rate regimes across countries, with some of these currencies historically pegged or closely managed against benchmark currencies, while others float more freely on the foreign exchange markets.
