WHO declares Ebola outbreak in DRC and Uganda an international emergency

The World Health Organization has declared the Ebola outbreak affecting the Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda a public health emergency of international concern, reports Sputnik Africa. The identified strain is Bundibugyo. According to Africa CDC, 13 cases have been confirmed in the DRC, including 4 deaths, while 246 unconfirmed cases and 65 deaths are still under investigation. Uganda has declared a state of heightened alert in response to the spread of the epidemic.
