Burkina Faso: Government mobilizes 36,000 billion FCFA for the 2026-2030 Recovery Plan
The Burkinabe government needs to mobilize 36,000 billion francs CFA to finance its 2026-2030 Recovery Plan, stated the Minister of Economy and Finance during a meeting with banking and microfinance stakeholders, according to a video broadcast by Radiodiffusion Télévision du Burkina (RTB). Adopted on January 29, this plan targets structural reforms for a productive and competitive economy, focusing on endogenous and inclusive socio-economic development. The minister specified that banks can intervene in pillar 3 (education, health) and pillar 4 (major state investments). In response, financial stakeholders committed to providing approximately 10,000 billion francs CFA, including 2,000 billion over five years. Microfinance, which already contributes over 6% to the financing of the national economy, was presented as a complementary lever, with innovative mechanisms set to strengthen this capacity.
