Côte d'Ivoire: The 2026 Telecommunications Forum focuses on 5G and radio network deployment
The 2nd edition of the Telecommunications Forum was officially launched on Friday, September 18, 2026, in Abidjan-Marcory, ahead of its main event from September 24 to 26 under the theme "Deployment of terrestrial and satellite radio networks, and exposure to electromagnetic waves: National strategy." According to RTI Info, the launch conference brought together stakeholders from the telecommunications sector and media professionals. The Director General of the Agence Ivoirienne des Fréquences Radioélectriques (AIDF), Yakouba Coulibaly, reiterated his agency's role in planning, allocating, and controlling frequencies nationwide—essential resources for telecommunications, television, and security services. "We chose to address these two topics together without pitting them against each other," he stated, referring to network deployment and concerns over electromagnetic wave exposure, summed up as "a technical requirement and a dialogue with all citizens." Koffi Yao Gabriel, chairman of the scientific committee, praised the mobilization of stakeholders around knowledge sharing. Over three days, regulators, experts, and professionals will examine the challenges of terrestrial and satellite network deployment as well as the rise of 5G, with the aim of outlining a common roadmap for the sector.
